This Is How Your Orders at Bend Soap Company Are Changing Lives

At Bend Soap Company, we firmly believe that when your skin feels good, you feel great. We’re also big supporters of using our resources to positively impact the lives of others and our communities. That’s why we decided to launch our Buy 1 Give 1 Program.

Launched in February of 2019, the Buy 1 Give 1 Program is all about helping people LOVE the way their skin looks and feels! Here's how it works: Bend Soap Company donates a FREE travel size bar of goat milk soap to organizations helping those in need, every time an order is placed at BendSoap.com.

Yes, you read that right: with every Bend Soap Company purchase, we provide a travel size bar of goat milk soap to someone who needs it most.

How the Buy 1 Give 1 Program works:

  1. You place an order at BendSoap.com.
  2. Bend Soap Company is notified of your order and donates 1 travel size bar of goat milk soap to an organization helping those in need.
  3. Feel great knowing that you’re using your shopping power for good!

It's really that simple! The best part?
There are NO minimum order amounts. It doesn’t matter if you purchase a single lip butter or spend big, each and every order placed at BendSoap.com results in 1 travel size bar of soap being donated. 1 order placed = 1 bar donated, regardless of how much you spend or what you order.⁣⁣

Our Buy 1 Give 1 Partners

Sharing our bars of goat milk soap with those in need has never been more rewarding! But the Buy 1 Give 1 Program can only be successful with the help of our customers. Bend Soap Company is proud to support organizations that provide help to those in need. So far, we’ve been able to team up with some amazing organizations.

St. Charles Cancer Center

Impact: donated 9,000+ travel size bars of our goat milk soap

Cancer patients often experience a TON of side effects due to the treatments and medicines they undergo. 😣 Unfortunately, many patients have to add "sensitive skin" to the long list of changes that are already happening to their body. Hair loss, dryness, redness, burning, irritation... These are just a few of the side effects they face that act as daily reminders of what they're up against. ⁣⁣

Located here in Bend, Oregon, the St. Charles Cancer Center is an organization we’ve been working with for years. Since 2015, we’ve been offering cancer survivor patients and people undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment bars of our goat milk soap formulated for sensitive skin

As the body’s first line of defense against chemicals, toxins, and infectious germs, the skin is also one of the areas of the body most commonly affected by medical treatments, new medication, and health conditions. While side effects that impact the skin are temporary for some, many patients don’t have access to — or the knowledge of — gentle and natural skincare products that can help bring them relief from dryness, redness, and discomfort their skin is battling against. Not only that but what you put on your skin is directly absorbed into your body. Most commercially made soaps (and many that claim to be “green” and “natural”) contain harmful chemicals and detergents that are really not very “natural” after all. Instead of cleaning your body, they end up leaving your skin dry, damaged, and lacking the vitamins and minerals it needs to perform and look its best.

Symptoms of Sensitive Skin

When your skin is either too acidic or too alkaline, problems such as dryness, inflammation, acne, itching or irritation may occur. Goat milk naturally contains lactic acid that helps assist in the breakdown of dead skin cells and is packed with vitamins, essential fatty acids, and amino acids.

Symptoms are often aggravated by the products we put on our skin. Individuals who have sensitive skin may also experience some or all of the following reactions:

  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Acne / rashes
  • Stinging
  • Redness (blushing and flushing)
  • Dryness (which you can learn more about here)
  • Tightness
  • Bumpy skin

By offering a gentle, quality, 100% natural bar of goat milk soap from Bend Soap Company, hospital patients who are suffering from sensitive skin related issues can begin to nourish their skin from the inside out. This includes people suffering from extreme eczema and psoriasis, children and adults battling cancer, and the hundreds of other patients who are dealing with sensitive skin. ⁣⁣

The professionals at St. Charles Cancer Center provide quality care to those undergoing cancer treatment. In fact, this program was awarded the 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In fact, they were one of only two accredited cancer programs in Oregon — and one of 24 in the country — to receive this honor for the more than 500 cancer surveys performed in 2018, placing it in the top 5% of all U.S. cancer programs.

Doernbecher Children's Hospital

Impact: donated 1,000+ travel size bars of our goat milk soap

Located in Portland, OR, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is a nationally ranked pediatric hospital and research center. With over 1,000 highly-trained staff members, the hospital provides a wide variety of treatments to more children than any other facility in Oregon or Southwest Washington.

Among their many awards and recognitions, in 2019 Dorbecher received the prestigious gold Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. This award recognizes neonatal intensive care units (NICU) with the highest levels of patient care and outcomes. To date, the NICU at Dorbecher is the only facility on the West Coast to reach this status. More recently, the American College of Surgeons verified Doernbecher's as one of the first five hospitals in the country as both a Level 1 Children’s Trauma Center and a Level 1 site for Children’s Surgery.

Our founders, Dwight and Marilee Johnson, have always been insistent that the bulk of our donations be made to facilities that focus on children in need. We were so impressed with the level of excellence at Doernbecher and their consistent efforts to create a family-centered care center, that we reached out in hopes of getting involved.

Since 2019, we’ve been proud to make regular donations of our travel size goat milk soaps to the waiting rooms of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Access to clean, all-natural skincare is important for everyone, but especially to those already battling health conditions. Our hope is that a bar of our goat milk soap can provide some small bit of relief to a child going through treatment and potentially fighting for their lives. In the face of all that, skin irritation should be the last of their worries. With the use of our sensitive skin products, we hope they can soothe the painful external symptoms and focus on healing within.

International Aid

Impact: donated 6,100+ travel size bars of our goat milk soap

Imagine living in a place where you did not have access to running water and could not bathe or brush your teeth. Now imagine having access to water but not being able to get the personal care products that you need for proper hygiene. That’s where International Aid comes in!

International Aid provides medical and health resources to global partners serving people in need. We were able to get involved with their work by donating travel size bars of goat milk soap to their Hygiene Kit Program which helps individuals whose lives are torn apart by disaster, illness, poverty, or simply don’t have access to personal care products on a regular basis. I.A. (or International Aid) volunteers assemble backpacks stuffed full of personal care items (a bottle of shampoo, tube of toothpaste and toothbrush, comb, a bar of goat milk soap from Bend Soap Company, and a washcloth) which are then packaged up in individuals bags and distributed to communities in need all over the world by I.A’.s partner Cure International

“Hygiene Kits are life-changing consumable goods that our partners can use every day in communities around the world, and are very helpful for those that are suffering or recovering from recent disruptions.” - International Aid

Personal hygiene is a universal need but is often overlooked when you’re struggling to find reliable sources of food, water, and shelter. These hygiene kits offer the first line of defense against the spread of illness, the first step toward good health, and provide tangible hope for those who are suffering. Bend Soap Company is extremely proud to be able to have an impact in this way! The first shipment of backpacks are scheduled for distribution this month. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates!

How wonderful!!! I strongly believe that every company should give back to their community. My two favorite charities are the Salvation Army, and a place called Turning Point. Turning Point is a domestic violence agency. They help anyone who is in need of getting out of that abusive relationship, and everything involved in that process. They helped me MANY years ago. Agencies like this would welcome care packages for the moms and children they assist.
