With so many new — and plenty of familiar! — faces around here, we wanted to take a moment to share the story and mission behind Bend Soap Company. Here’s a little back-story to fill you in on where Bend Soap Company started and what’s happened over the years, as written by our Co-Founder, Marilee.
Watching a child suffer is so hard. As Dwight and I watched our son struggle with his eczema, we searched for a product that would help with his pain and itching. When no product was found in the stores, our research led us back to our very own farm.
We learned that fresh goat milk was rich in nutrients. Looking at our goats, we wondered… Could soap made with this milk be the answer to our son’s eczema
True, there were already plenty of soaps to choose from, but we discovered they are laced with toxins and junk! The more labels we read, the more we felt like lab rats who were slowly being poisoned.
“We need a pure soap!” Dwight proclaimed.
Keeping the ingredients simple and pure, he handcrafted his own bar.
Each day our son soaked in a bath of this pure, nutrient-rich soap, and before we knew it, his pain and itching were gone! We were so encouraged by the results, we made more soap and shared it with family, friends, bank tellers... Anyone who was interested.
The word spread and people started asking for more, and more soap. A small family farm business began and the soap was sold at craft shows up and down the west coast.
Wherever we went we always had travel soaps to share. Soon more natural products joined the soaps as we worked to provide natural solutions for more of our skincare needs.
The soap has not changed over the years, for its all-natural goodness is precious. As we grow, we choose not to compromise on the quality of the ingredients, for what goes on our skin is too great of importance to be careless.
To those who give our products a try, we hope you enjoy. It is our mission to make these products available to all. We want you to LOVE your skin… One bar at a time!
Welcome to the Bend Soap Co. family!

I sent your products to my daughter to try for her son. He is allergic to many foods and has eczema. It has been such a blessing and he needs less prescription topicals! I wish these products were available when my daughter was little.
I clean for an elderly lady whose daughter had given her some of your soap to help her dry hands issues. Intrigued, I ordered some for myself and fell in love wirh it! Not only do they smell wonderful, my skin is so soft. I have given bars away as gifts and keep my guest bathroom stocked so everyone who stays in our home can try it as well. I’m completely satisfied and happy to have found this product.❤
My daughter gave me a Christmas gift basket as she was already using your products on my grandson Sam for his eczema. Last fall I developed a rash on my back, hips and neck area. Of course at age 61, I thought I had shingles! (I also got that vaccine immediately) but after going to the dermatologist she said eczema. I tried all the RX’s she recommended, didn’t work very good and I had to keep using them, the shampoo did not smell good or work well as it was Red and my hair is White! So at Christmas I get a gift of Goat soap, lotion, etc. I could not wait to try it out. After 2 months of using only goats milk products my skin looks better, the itching is slowly going away, and I feel back to my old self again. Thanks to you and my daughter! I have also talked to others about your projects and gave them your website. So happy I found you!

I absolutely swear by goats milk soap! Very happy to do business with Bend soap!
After wisdom tooth surgery in my teens, I was on heavy duty antibiotics for a couple months and they just wrecked my system. Then my health journey began of cleaning up my wrecked gut flora and discovering I had developed gluten intolerance. My skin was a wreck with painful, itchy acne.
While I worked to develop a solution for the internal problem, I needed something topical that wouldn’t make my already painful skin even worse. Everything that touched my face made it break out. I would sleep on my back so that my sheets and hair wouldn’t touch my face. Acne spreading all over my jaw and neck was demoralizing, embarrassing, and painful. This continued into college.
I discovered Bend Soap on a blog called Spend with Pennies, where the author suggested goat milk soap as a replacement for shampoo. I tried it, and the switch combined with gentle laundry detergent has enabled me to no longer freak out when my hair touches my face. I believe the switch to Bend Soap for body soap and shampoo has made a tremendous difference in balancing my hormones (combined with other measures), as I’m no longer rubbing soaps filled with poison and estrogenic fragrances into my skin and scalp. Thank you for this! I use it for both my kids now and suggest it to everyone.
